The 7 Days of Halloween Treat Packs

Day 7

These treat packs are easy to make (downloadable artwork) and are fun to give out as Halloween treats to your trick-or-treaters, school parties for those little ones or to just have around to give to guest visiting during that time. Be sure to collect them all!

Supplies:

• Artwork (download below)
• White Card Stock
• 4" x 6" Clear Reclosable Bag (check your local craft store or Walmart) or
• Clear candy/gift bags or Halloween decorated candy/gift bags (check your local party store, craft store, Walmart or Dollar Tree)
• Paper cutter or scissors
• Stapler
• Clear tape

Treats:

• Candy corn
• Miniature marshmallows or white chocolate chips
• Golden graham cereal or Chex cereal
• Raisins
• Miniature or regular chocolate chips
• Orange jellybeans

Basic Instructions for 4" x 6" Bag:

The artwork contains 6 folder over tags that are 4" x 3" unfolded, 4" x 1.5" folded. Print out the number you need and follow the cut lines to cut out each one.

Put some of each treats (1 tablespoon each or more) into the reclosable bag and seal. Then shake the mixture to the top area of the bag, fold the excess bag up and tap. Then take the label and fold in half, put over the top of the bag and staple above the reclosable area.

If you are using a clear/Halloween decorated candy/gift bag, cut the bag down to size to hold the treat mixture, with enough to fold over twice and then staple the tag on.

These treat packs are easy to make (downloadable artwork) and are fun to give out as Halloween treats to your trick-or-treaters, school parties for those little ones or to just have around to give to guest visiting during that time. Be sure to collect them all!

Supplies:

• Orange jellybeans or butterscotch chips
• Artwork (download below)
• White Card Stock
• Clear candy/gift bags or Halloween decorated candy/gift bags (check your local party store, craft store, Walmart or Dollar Tree)
• Paper cutter or scissors
• Ribbon or twine (I used 1/8" wide orange ribbon from Walmart, about $0.48 spool.)
• Hole punch or needle to punch a small hole to thread ribbon through

Basic Instructions:

The artwork contains 6 tags. Print out the number you need and trim out the tag, leaving a small amount of space all the way around the tag.

Put 1/4 cup or more of orange jellybeans or butterscotch chips into the bag. Gather the bag and tie with the ribbon or twine tightly. Punch a hole into the stem area of the tag and thread the tag onto the ribbon or twine, tie into a small bow and then trim streamers. Give the excess bag a ragged trim and then fluff out.

• Artwork (download below)
• White Card Stock

• Paper cutter or scissors
• Stapler

Patio Umbrella Holder

In the hunt for an patio umbrella holder for my new patio set, I came across an idea of using a large clay flower pot. So, I proceeded to make a list of supplies I would need for this project.

SUPPLIES:

• 10" or 12" Clay Pot (I purchased mine from Lowe's for about $10.00)
• Duct Tape
• Quick Drying Cement (Also purchased at Lowe's)
• PVC Pipe
  Only needs to be as tall as the pot and no more than an inch higher than the pot and wide enough that your umbrella will fit down inside the pipe.
• Optional - I picked up some jewel stones from the Dollar Store. And I had some leftover rope from another project that I used to decorate mine.
  Decorative Stones, River Rocks, Jewels
  Outdoor, Waterproof, Clear Contact Cement

ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS:

Clean the clay pot to remove any dirt or other residue. Let dry completely.

If you are decorating the extended edge of the pot, do this now and let set for 24 hours, or you may wait and decorate after the cement has cured, see step 7.

If there is a whole in the bottom of the pot, tape over the hole, both inside and outside of the pot, making sure it is covered completely.

Now tape over the end of the PVC pipe that will be down inside of the pot. This keep the cement from seeping inside of the pipe.

This part you will need some help with. Mix your cement in a can so that you can pour it. Have your helper place the PVC pipe with the taped end into your pot, making sure the pipe is centered in your pot. With your helper holding the pipe securely, pour the cement into the pot around the PVC pipe. Fill the pot leaving 1-1/2 to 2" space at the top. Hold the pipe for approximately 5 minutes so the cement is set.

Let your cement cure for at least 24 hours.

Once your cement is cured, you can proceed to decorate the outside of the pot and the inside top of the pot. Be sure that anything you use for decorations is Outdoor Approved!

Once all decorations are complete and set, place under your table and insert your umbrella.

The possibilities for this are endless, limited only by your imaginations.

Photo Blocks

Photo blocks are another versatile craft. I would like to share some that I have done to provide some inspiration for you!

              These make great gifts!

 
                               These make great recipe holders.

Baby cube was customized with "new baby" information. Middle cube was a keepsake for my Grandson. Third cube was created for the 75th Anniversary Celebration of the Miss Texas Pageant.

As you can see, the possibilities are limitless! Use your imagination!

Supplies

• Now to make these, you first need the photo blocks. These wooden blocks with the metal holder are available from Oriental Trading, currently priced at $13.50 per dozen.
• Mod Podge
• Sponge Brushes
• Beads, Ribbons or other embellishments
• Spray paint in your choice of color the metal photo holder
• Acrylic paint or spray paint in your choice of color for the wooden block
• Artwork of your choice (I cover all 6 sized of the cube. I created the bottom piece with personalization - my name and date created.) 
• Glue
• Polyurethane Spray to seal the finished project.

Instructions

1. Measure the side of the block so that you can size your artwork to fit on each panel. 
2. Print your artwork and cut, set aside.
3. Remove the metal photo holder from the block. Spray the metal photo holder is you want it another color besides black. (I take an old piece of packing Styrofoam and inset it into and then spray. Once dry, inset other end into styrofoam and finish spraying so that it is completely covered with new color.
4. Gently sand any rough spots on the wood block. Then wipe the block to remove any sanding residue. Paint all sides of the block, let dry overnight.
5. Starting on the sides of the block, one side at a time, cover with Mod Podge and place your artwork on and smooth out any wrinkles or air bubbles. Continue working about the cube until you have all four panels done.
6. Once you have all four panels done, you will apply a coat of Mod Podge to the four panels. I have found that if I inset a bamboo skewer into the top where the photo holder was removed, it makes turning the cube and holding it easier for this step. Once all four sides are coated, let it sit over night to dry.
7. To finish the top and bottom, apply a coat of Mod Podge, place your artwork and smooth out wrinkles and air bubbles. Before it has dried, be sure to punch the hole through the artwork in the top for the photo holder to be reinserted. Then, put a coat of Mod Podge over your artwork on both the top and bottom. Let this sit overnight to dry.
8. Once the cube is dried, if you want to add embellishments to the photo holder, like beads, place them on. Dip the end of the photo holder into glue and inset back into the wooden block. Let this dry completely.
9. Sit up to dry overnight and then spray the cube with Polyurethane spray to seal it.

Valentine's Cupcake Wrappers & Toppers

Here's a fun an easy craft that the kids will love helping with.

Supplied Needed For Wrapper & Toppers

Printer with white and/or colored paper, regular or card stock
Toothpicks
Scissors
Glue Stick

First, bake up some yummy cupcakes, frost and decorate with some candy hearts or other Valentine's Day decorations.

Print out either the Blank or the Candy Hearts Cupcake Wrappers. These may be printed on regular paper or card stock. The blank ones can be printed on white or colored paper and then decorated. Let the kids decorate the blank ones with Valentine's Day stickers or have them personalize with their own drawings.

The carefully cut along the guide lines. Wrap around your cupcake and glue.

For the Cupcake toppers, print out either the Candy Hearts, I Love or Love Stamps on either regular paper or card stock.

Trim carefully around them being sure not to cut all the way through on the circle ones.

Fold in half, place a toothpick in the center and glue. Stick in the top of your cupcake.

Sweeties for Your Sweetie

Planning a special Valentine's evening doesn't require an expensive bouquet of roses or that expensive dinner reservation. To me, I think it's way more romantic to have a nice candlelight dinner at home with the one you love, your favorite drink (alcoholic or not), soft music playing and a great after dinner dessert.

I'll be sharing several recipes I've found over the next couple of days to make for your Sweetie and to share with others!

Pink Lemonade Pie          Recipe from Hoosier Homemade

Prep Time: 15 minutes    Cook Time: 8 minutes

Yield: 1 full size pie or 8-10 mini pies (with leftovers) 

Graham Cracker Crust
1 1/2 cups crushed graham crackers
1/4 cup sugar
4 tablespoons butter, melted

Filling
1 {8 oz.} package cream cheese, soft
1 {14 oz} can sweetened condensed milk
3/4 cup pink lemonade concentrate, thawed & undiluted
2 tablespoons lemon juice
2-4 drops Pink Coloring, if desired
2-4 tablespoons sugar, depending on your taste
Whipping Cream Topping
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup powdered sugar

Garnish
Wilton Micro Mini Hearts

Instructions   

Crust
Combine crushed graham crackers, sugar and melted butter
Press mixture into heart shaped silicone baking cups, or pie plate
Bake at 350 degrees for about 8 minutes or until golden brown
Let cool completely

Filling
Pour milk into large bowl, add softened cream cheese and beat until well combined
Add pink lemonade concentrate, lemon juice and Pink coloring, mix well
Spoon into cooled crust
Freeze until firm

Whipping Cream Topping
Pour heavy whipping cream in a large chilled bowl with chilled beaters
Whip on medium speed until cream starts to thicken
Add vanilla and beat on high speed
When soft peaks form, gradually add powdered sugar
Beat on high until stiff peaks form
Add a dollop of whipping cream to pie

Garnish as desired

Now doesn't this just look and sound yummy! Enjoy and until tomorrow!

Cupid What???

Well, it's that time of the year when Cupid is flying around everywhere, or at least she should be!

This is a fun little craft the little ones can help you with. There are two variation of this, depending on the recipient.

CUPID'S POOP

Small clear or Valentine's Day decorated baggie*
Ribbon, color to match design on bag
Tags Number 1 (PDF file below)
Hole Punch
Candy Conversation Hearts, Red Jelly Beans, or
   M & M's® Chocolate Coated Candy Pieces

1. Download and print out the tags. Cut into individual tags and punch a hole in the top where shown.
2. Take your baggie and put a scoop of candy hearts or red jelly beans inside.
3. Twist top of baggie and tie the red ribbon very tightly.
4. Attached the tags to the ribbon and then tie a bow. Be sure to curl the ends of your ribbon.

* If you use the tall baggies, just take a pair of scissors or pinking shears and after the bag is all tied up, trim the top of the bag and fluff out.

CUPID'S KISSES

1. Use tag number 2 below.
2. Replace the candy hearts/jelly beans/chocolate pieces with Chocolate Kisses, preferably the Valentine's Day edition.

These make a cute gift for young and old. Great, inexpensive products for the little one to take to school for Valentine's Day.

I found some cute Valentine's Day decorated zip baggies at our local Dollar Store. I created the bags above my simply cutting off the zip portion of the bag, filling, adding ribbon and tag and then used the pinking shears and cut across the tops.
